Our clients come from many places, and not everyone is most comfortable reading about software in English. So we've done something we'd wanted to do for a while: the SayShan Technologies website now speaks twelve languages.
The languages
You can read the site in English, Bangla (বাংলা), Arabic (العربية), Hindi (हिन्दी), Urdu (اردو), French, Spanish, Turkish, Indonesian, Malay, German and Simplified Chinese (简体中文).
Every page is translated, from the home page and our services to the booking and contact pages and our privacy and cookie information. The menus, buttons, form labels and error messages follow your language too, not just the headlines.
Arabic and Urdu read the right way
Arabic and Urdu are written from right to left, and a proper translation means more than swapping the words. The whole page needs to mirror: menus, layout, spacing, the direction of arrows and the position of buttons. We built the site so those languages flip automatically, rather than looking like English with the text replaced.
How the site picks your language
You don't have to do anything for most visitors. The site looks at the language your browser asks for, and shows that one if we support it. If you choose a language yourself from the switcher in the menu, we remember your choice for next time, so you won't have to pick again on your next visit.
Prefer a different one? Use the language switcher at the top of any page. Your choice applies immediately.
Light or dark
While we were at it, the site also gained a light and a dark theme. It starts with whatever your device prefers, and you can switch with the toggle in the menu. We remember that choice too.
Fonts and icons that load everywhere
A small detail we care about: the fonts, logos and icons you see are served from our own site, not from outside services. Some of those outside services are blocked or slow in certain countries, and we didn't want a visitor to see a broken page because of that. The only outside pieces are the optional live chat and the booking calendar, and the site still works if either doesn't load.
What about the blog?
The menus and layout of the blog follow your chosen language, but the articles themselves are published in the language they were written in. For now, that means most are in English. If you'd like to read a particular article in another language, tell us. Your requests help us decide what to translate first.
Spotted something odd?
Translation is never finished. If you see a clumsy phrase, a mistake or text that doesn't fit its box, we'd like to hear about it, especially from native speakers. Send a note through the contact page with the language and the page, and we'll look into it.
